Beauty Flavor Tagging at CDF and the Time-of-flicgt detector

Creators

Description

Since May 2002 the CDF detector at Fermilab's Tevatron pp collider has collected around 240 pb-1 of physics quality data, about twice the previous Run I data set. New vertexing, triggering and particle identification capabilities have been added enhancing dramatically the CDF's B physics program. In particular, the new Time-of-Flight detector increases the low momentum particle identification capabilities required by one key experimental ingredient for mos of the B physics analysis: b flavor tagging. A brief review of the flavor tagging methods in use at CDF is given. Preliminary Run II flavor tagging results, tagging strategies and projected impact of the TOF detector are summarized.
