Description
Different emission properties of band edge laser in a face centered cubic (FCC) photonic crystal pumped by ps and ns pulse were investigated experimentally. For the case pumped by ps laser, multi-mode emission is obtained and every modes have narrow line width. For the case pumped by ns laser, there is only a single dominant mode with high output intensity and a line width about several nanometers. Also, the lasing threshold pumped by ns laser is much lower than that pumped by ps laser, and the emission mode pumped by ns laser is more stable than that pumped by ps laser
