High nuclear temperatures by antimatter-matter annihiliation
Description
The authors investigate the properties of nuclear matter by possibly raising the energy density of a localized region of nuclear material. They consider raising the energy density of some fraction of the nucleus to that of a nucleon, or raising the kinetic energy of the nucleons to a ''temperature'' of the order of 180 MeV. It proposed to try to create this new form of matter by collisions of heavy ions, but the authors suggest a possible alternative through the use of antiproton beams
