Electromagnetic surface waves at a tangential velocity discontinuity

Description
Electromagnetic surface waves are studied in a coordinate system in which a stationary medium occupies the domain z less than zero and the medium in the domain z greater than zero moves uniformly with a certain velocity at an angle with the x-axis. A surface wave is obtained as a solution of the Maxwell equations as a function of the coordinates and time in a given form. The results can be used in explaining the subtle effects observed when the electromagnetic waves interact with ionospheric layers and the moving interplanetary plasma, and also in the description of astrophysical objects. 5 references
