Main characteristics of Er2O3 densified hipping

Description
An erbium oxide powder fully characterized (specific surface area, particle size, chemical analysis) is densified by hipping at temperatures in the range 1,150 to 1,550C, pressure 100 to 150 MPa and during a dwell time of 1 hour. A translucent and fully dense material is obtained. The influence of hipping parameters on the microstructure and on mechanical properties is investigated. The optical characteristics are studied in the range of UV-visible. Finally, these erbium oxide properties are compared with those of yttrium oxide
