Investigation of Online Image Distortion Corrections for X-ray Micro-CT Imaging

Description
The aim of the study was to investigate the online image distortion corrections for our X-ray micro-CT system for high-resolution small animal imaging. The distortions of micro-CT imaging due to the detectors intrinsic defects and the nonuniform irradiation of the cone-beam geometry were analyzed. The correction method for those image distortions was then developed and implemented with online image acquisition. The preliminary experiments show that our correction method is reliable and effective to correct those image distortions from the projection images. This image correction method could be utilized for other similar micro-CT systems. (authors)
