Turbulence spectrum of whistlers in interplanetary plasma

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Fizicheskij Inst.

Description

The pattern of spatial and temporal spectra of whistler turbulence in the interplanetary plasma in a small-scale spectrum range between the ion and electron resonances is studied. The theoretical temporal spectrum Wsub(f) is compared with the measurement results. The Wsub(f) spectrum agrees well enough with the experimental data only in the low-frequency range, where the theory and experiment give Wsub(f) approximately f-2. The high-frequency steep slope of the Wsub(f) spectrum is caused by the effect of cyclotron attenuation during interactions of whistlers having highly differing frequencies
