Study on the structure of zinc by x-ray power diffraction method
Description
The crystal structure of zinc has been determined by X-ray (Cu K*a radiation) powder diffraction method. The unit cell is hexagonal, P6sub(3)/mmc with a=2.6638(1)A, c=4.941(2)A, V=30.3624A, z=2 and Dc=7.149g/cc. The structure was solved by graphical and analytical methods using thirteen powder diffractometer intensity data. The agreement between the experimental and theoretical integrated intensities of the reflecting planes is fairly good. The zinc atoms from metallic bond with the closest distance 2.6638A and the c/a ratio is 1.855. (Author)
