Leptonic processes in superstrong magnetic field
- 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR). Kafedra Teoreticheskoj Fiziki
Description
The emission of a massive neutral vector particle by a charged lepton in a magnetic field H is considered, as well as the decay of a muon at rest, in which an electron is produced in the ground state. The probabilities of the processes are calculated. It is indicated that in the range of superstrong field H >= or approximately Hsub(o)=4.41x1013 Oe these processes may become the most probable. Numerical estimates of massive vectro particle emission by an electron in two concrete cases are given: emission of a rho0 meson with a mass of 770 MeV by an electron of mass 0.5 MeV and energy 104 GeV in a field H approximately equal to H0 approximately equal to 4.4x1013 Oe and emission of a neutral meson with a mass of 74 GeV by an electron of energy 108 GeV. In the authors' opinion the production of a massive photon may become possible near the surface of pulsars. The realization of a ''one dimensional'' μ decay requires magnetic fields of strength H > > 104 H0
