Preparation of Co2+-doped MgGa2O4 nanocrystals by citrate sol-gel method

  • 1. State Key Laboratory of Crystal Materials, Shandong University, Jinan 250100 (China)

Description

Co2+-doped MgGa2O4 nanocrystals were prepared via a citrate sol-gel method. The sintered samples were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra and near-infrared absorption spectrum. MgGa2O4 nanocrystals were precipitated by calcining the gel above 600 oC, with the crystallite size of 5-35 nm in the temperature range of 600-1000 oC. The absorption spectrum of Co2+-doped MgGa2O4 exhibited a broad absorption band near 1.5 μm, which indicated that Co2+ ions located in the tetrahedrally coordinated sites of the MgGa2O4 nanocrystals
