Cleaning method of coolant for light water BWR type reactor

Description

Purpose: To remove radioactive cobalt in reactor coolant without largely decreasing the temperature of the coolant. Method: In a condensation system of a BWR type reactor, a tower filled with inorganic absorbent durable for reactor coolant temperature is provided in a system after a temperature rise heat exchanger, coolant of at least 1000C or higher is passed through the tower, thereby removing radioactive cobalt in the coolant. The inorganic absorbent may employ porous alumina bearing titanium oxide. According to this method, it is not necessary to largely lower the coolant temperature, thereby enabling the increase in the coolant treating quantity. (Kaminura, M.)
