Once more on the nature of the C(1480) meson

  • 1. Institute of High Energy Physics, Serpukhov (USSR)

Description

A critical analysis is made of data on the new vector C(1480) meson and of various hypotheses regarding the nature of this state. It is shown that attempts to explain the anomalously large value of the ratio R/sub C/=BR[C(1480) yields phi π0]/BRC(1480) yields ωπ0>0.5, which has been established experimentally, in the framework of the model of an ordinary isovector meson with a quark structure (uu-bar-dd-bar)/(2)/sup 1/2/ turn out to be untenable. The C(1480) meson apparently is a cryptoexotic state---a multiquark or hybrid meson (chemical bondC>=chemical bond1/(2)/sup 1/2/)(uu-bar-dd-bar)ss-bar> or chemical bondC>=chemical bond(1/(2)/sup 1/2/)(uu-bar-dd-bar)g>
