Influence of various doses of ionizing radiation on the level of phytohormones in plants
Description
Seeds of vicia faba were gamma-irradiated and studies were made on germination rate, length of shoots, length of root, content of gibberellin, and content of kinetin. A direct relationship was observed between the growth of plants and the content of hormones. Radiation doses of 100 to 500 R stimulated growth and increased the amounts of hormones; doses of 5000 to 10,000 R inhibited growth and decreased the amount of hormones
