Multichannel charge-to-digital converter for hodoscope recording systems

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description

A multichannel charge-to-digital converter for recording the signals from scintillation hodoscopes and Cherenkov multichannel spectrometers is described. The converter consists of a sixteen-channels charge-to-time converter (CTC) and ten-digit time-to-digital converter (TDC) recording up to sixteen-time intervals in the range from 0 to 20 μs. It is possible to connect four CTCs to the TDC input which corresponds to sixty four input channels. CTC and TDC are made in the form of the CAMAC blocks. The system described permits to obtain the mean communication density more than 12 channels per one CAMAC station, at that most of these stations do not need the communication line with an electronic computer. Power consumption amounts to 0.7 W/channel
