Mechanism of metal ion discharge from complex electrolytes

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Obshchej i Neorganicheskoj Khimii

Description

Using the ''average coordination number of discharging ion'' function the Cd2+-SO42--H2O, Cd2+-F--H2O systems have been studied. The total cathode current has been measured in electrolytes, containing 1x10-2 mol/l cadmium perchlorate, at the background of 2 mol/l sodium perchlorate, at the 1:1 to 1:80 concentration ratios of Cd2+:SO42-. It is shown that at a low ligand concentration cadmium ions take part in the cathode process, and with the concentration increase - monomolecular CdSO4 and CdF2 complexes do. General flowsheets of mechanisms of cadmium electrodeposition from sulphates and fluoride electrolytes are presented
