Mass spectrometric investigation of water vapors effect on carbon dioxide adsorption on zirconium tetrafluoride

Description

The ability of carbon doxide to adsorb on zirconium tetrafluoride has been studied in the presene of excess water vapors. The adsorption isotherms have been calculated in the temperature range 285 to 305 K, and mean adsorption heat has been found to be 20.8±0.2 kJ/mol (5.0±0.1 kcal/mol). The early conclusion [1] about the main role of carbon dioxide dissolution in a water layer on zirconium tetrafluoride surface for its adsorption was confirmed. The adsorption heat estimated earlier (15.4 kJ/mol or 3.7 kcal/mol) is likely to correspond to the dissolution of carbon dioxide when the surface is incompletely covered with liquid water
