Determination of β-particle longitudinal polarization in the decay of 210Bi

  • 1. Sussex Univ., Brighton (UK). School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences

Description

The longitudinal polarization of β-particles from 210Bi has been measured at three values of the energy, using a double-focussing crossed field electron spin polarimeter. The results are: E = 150 keV, P/(-v/c) = 0.70 +- 0.07, E = 220 keV P/(-v/c) = 0.70 +- 0.05, E = 300 keV, P/(-v/c) = 0.71 +- 0.05. Radioactivity: 210Bi, measured longitudinal polarization. (orig.)
