Experience from a collocated fast reactor fuel cycle
Description
A brief review is presented of some of the fuel cycle development work on DRF, which shows how collocation of the full fuel system produced major benefits from each section. The areas discussed include work on the reactor, fuel material, fabrication and reprocessing, and the effect on the overall fuel cycle. Control of fissile material and decommissioning are also discussed. Finally the pros and cons of having the equipment of fuel fabrication and reprocessing on the reactor site are examined. (U.K.)
