Description
Computer tomographic examination allows the simultaneous and differentiated assessment - without overlapping - of the bone structures and the soft tissues of the cranium. This technique marked a considerable progress in the X-ray diagnostics of the malignant ethmoido-maxillary tumours. Out of 37 cases studied, 26 epithelial cancers, 6 adenocarcinomas and 5 cylindromes occurred. The examination is preferred not only in case of suspected tumour, but in case of verified tumour as well, in order to determine their extensions. The computer tomographic examination is required as the basis of the radiation treatment planning, to achieve optimal geometrical dose distribution. (author)
