Description
Due to the physical properties of thorium and its metabolism in the human body, as well as the relatively low maximum annual limits of uptake through inhalation, indoor air monitoring at places of work involving thorium handling is mandatory for health protection. The report discusses the sampling methods as well as the evaluation of measured results applying alpha and gamma spectrometry and neutron activation analysis. (orig./DG)

Aufgrund der physikalischen Eigenschaften des Thoriums und seines Stoffwechsels im menschlichen Koerper sowie der relativ niedrigen Grenzwerte der Jahresaktivitaetszufuhr durch Inhalation ist die Raumluftueberwachung am Arbeitsplatz die geforderte Methode, um eine Grenzwerteinhaltung ueberpruefen zu koennen. Die Probenverfahren und die Auswertungen durch Alpha- und Gammaspektrometrie und Neutronenaktivierungsanalyse werden beschrieben und die Messergebnisse bewertet. (orig./DG)Additional details
