Structure changes of commercial titanium-copper alloys under neutron irradiation

  • 1. Institute of Physics and Technology, Almaty (Kazakstan)

Description

This paper presents the results of the investigation of Cu 2,5 at% Ti alloy irradiated after the preliminary deformation and annealing and BT-14 (Ti+(4,5 - 6,3) Al+(2,5 - 3,8)Mo+(0,9 - 1,9)V) in state having two-phase structure α + β with concentration of β-phase 10%. The samples were irradiated by tungsten carbide (WC) ions. Irradiated and controlled samples were studied by the means of X-ray analysis and microhardness. The irradiation was carried on accelerator 'DIANA' at 373 K by fluence 1,038 x 1020 ion/m2 and 1,5 x 1020 ion/m2. After the irradiation by ions the lattice parameter of solid solution α-phase decreased by 0,04% and 0,1% and microhardness increased by 40% and 47% correspondingly. (A.A.D.)
