X-ray crystallographic equipment: safe use in teaching

Description

X-ray equipment used in crystallographic and spectrometric work is among the most potentially hazardous pieces of laboratory apparatus. However, a simple form of interlocked total enclosure can be used on such equipment, in undergraduate teaching as well as research. This provides an attractive and inexpensive solution for 'open beam' crystallographic experiments. (author)
