Description
To investigate the vertical profiles and latitudinal distributions of 7Be (T1/2=53.3 day) and 10Be (T12=1.5x106 y) in the eastern Pacific Ocean, seawater samples from 6 m to 500 m depth at 10 stations and 33 surface water samples were collected during the R/V Hakuho-Maru KH03-1 cruise from June to September 2003. Based on the 7Be and 10Be concentrations in the surface layer, the mean residence times for Be isotopes were estimated to 1-20 years, and the 7Be and 10Be fluxes across the ocean surface ware estimated to 0.01-0.06 and 0.01-0.09 atoms cm-2 sec-1, respectively.
