Description

A neutron interferometer is a device to detect the difference of potential energy between the two paths as a phase shift of the interference fringes. A multilayer neutron interferometer has the advantage to measure the small interactions because neutrons with longer wavelengths can be handled and the size can be enlarged. We have demonstrated a Jamin-type interferometer with wide-band multilayer mirrors for pulsed neutron beam at J-PARC. Interference fringes according to the neutron wavelength was clearly observed. The two paths of this interferometer still overlapped with each other. We are continuing the development to increase the spatial beam separation and the bandwidth of the mirrors (author)
