Current staging of hepatocellular carcinoma

Hepatocellular carcinoma is a malignant primary liver tumor, which in fact represents a world health problem. The prognosis is dependent of multiple factors, like tumor characteristics at the moment of diagnosis, the grade of liver failure associated with cirrhosis and the general state of the patient. Recently the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) group developed a staging system, which shows advantages and superiority in relation to the remainder systems. Also give the possibility to formulate recommendations of accepted choice of treatment, in dependence of the stratification of this malignant tumor
