Methods of thallium-201 preparation (review)

Methods for preparation of radioisotopically pure 201Tl using nuclear reactions of accelerated charged particles with mercury, thallium and lead isotopes are reviewed. The effect of particle beam energy and type as well as the type used as an isotope target at the yield and radionuclide purity of 201Tl preparation, is discussed. Ways of chemical retreatment of targets irradiated mainly based on extraction, sorption and thermochromatography methods are considered.
