Sonographic diagnosis of the free air in the peritoneal cavity
Description
The good-known appearance of gas is a specific interference of pattern in sonography. This sign has allowed a correct diagnosis of perforated ulcers at 4 among 6 patients. In addition, this method showed fluid collections, thickening of the gallbladder wall and in 3 patients place of perforation. Abdominal sonography as radiography has been found to be helpful for identifying of pneumoperitoneum. (author)
