Highlights: • Three MSCT signs are associated with adhesive small bowel obstruction strangulation. • Reduced bowel wall enhancement, diffuse mesenteric haziness, closed-loop mechanism. • CT scoring system shows strangulation possibility when two or three signs coexist.
