Heat conduction problems in superconductive cylindrical ray-deflecting magnets used in high energy particles physics

Description

Some solutions of this problem are given for concentric cylindrical magnets. The variation of temperature in the active part of the superconductor is determined, when its surface is suddenly subjected to a low temperature and when finally the temperature distribution is uniform. Also, the temperature distribution is determined when the active parts of the superconductor are exposed to an intensive bombardment by high energy protons. It is found that superconductors of the group A15 attain, for high fields, particularly high intensities. (J.K.S.)
