Description

The coordinate performance of a wire chamber detecting Cherenkov radiation photons are studied. The chamber operates in a high-current regime with CH4+7.5% triethylamine mixture. The coordinate along the signal wire is measured by the charge distribution method and transverse to it - by electron drift time. The detector spatial resolution is 4.5 and 1.5 mm, respectively. It is found that the streamer and Geiger mechanisms can exist simultaneously that is confirmed by direct discharge photographing
