Radiographic quality assurance of prestressed reinforcement grouting

Description
The possibilities are summed up of applying the radiographic method in civil engineering for testing bridge structures of prestressed concrete and for determining hydroinsulation damage or corrosion damage which result in bridge destruction. The 60Co radionuclide was used as a radiation source for radiography of selected structure points. A recording photometer was used allowing objective evaluation of the radiogram obtained in which the size of cavities formed can be defined. The reliability of the method was tested in checking prestressed concrete bridges of different bearing element thicknesses. (J.C.)
