Description
In order to meet the requirements of an operational system a new Monte Carlo simulation of atmospheric tracer dispersion model (MCDSIM) was developed. It is based on an enhanced simulation scheme that introduces a degree of interactivity and the possibility to perform simulations using variable meteorological or source term data. This scheme was implemented in versions running in sequential mode as well as in parallel mode using PVM and MPI, able to run on an heterogeneous network or a massive parallel processor system. Simulations carried out using Copenhagen tracer experiment scenarios, employing a theoretical treatment based on the Langevin equation and a parametrization of the atmospheric turbulence based on the scaling theory, showed a general good agreement.
