Description
We point out that if the Fritzsch ansatz arises in tree approximation as the result of a spontaneously broken symmetry of the lagrangian, there will be finite radiative corrections which have to be taken into account when confronting the data. We show that radiative corrections at the (5-10)% level make the Fritzsch ansatz compatible with all present data, even for a very heavy top quark. (orig.)
