Development of high temperature electron beam irradiation vessel

  • 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Inst., Takasaki, Gunma (Japan). Takasaki Radiation Chemistry Research Establishment

Description

An electron beam irradiation vessel was developed for the irradiation of polymer materials at elevated temperature in inert gas atmosphere such as the radiation crosslinking of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE). The polymer materials were heated by the forced circulation of heated inert gas, and the temperature of materials during irradiation was controlled uniformly. For PTFE sheet sample, the temperature was regulated between 200-400degC during electron beam irradiation. (author)
