Determination of thyroxine, triiodothyronine and iodide in a mixture by using the TLC method

Description
Separation of I-125 labelled thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3) and iodide (I-) by TLC (thin-layer chromatography) on silica gel using elution mixtures of n-butanol--ethanol--2M NH4 and isoamyl alcohol--ethanol--2M NH3 is described. Rsub(F) value for T4, T3 and I- are as follows: (1) n-butanol-ethanol-2M NH3 (T4=0.29, T3=0.39, I-=0.56) (2) isoamyl alcohol-ethanol-2M NH3 (T4=0.16, T3=0.28, I-=0.44). (T.I.)
