The effects of humidity on the response of radiochromic film dosimeters FWT-60-00 and Gafchromic-DM-1260

  • 1. Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Pinawa, MB (Canada). Whiteshell Labs.

Description

The response characteristics of the radiochromic film dosimeters, nylon-based FWT-60-00 and coated polyester Gafchromic-DM-1260, were investigated as a function of relative humidity (RH) of air with which they were equilibriated, in the range of 0-94% RH. Studies were made for both γ-ray (dose rate = 2 Gy/s) and 10-MeV electron-beam (pulse dose rate = 106 Gy/s) irradiations. The response of the FWT dosimeters, unlike that of the Gafchromic, shows significant variation with RH. These results are in disagreement with the results in the recent articles. (author)
