Titanium sublimation pump method for the determination of noble gases in gas mixtures
- 1. Monsanto Research Corp., Miamisburg, OH
Description
A titanium sublimation pump method, based on the chemical gettering action of Ti to separate chemically active gases from inert gases, was developed. The residual rare gas was determined by a simple PVT calculation. The method was developed as a means for the accurate determination of the 3He decay product in mixtures containing T2 and HT. The equipment and procedure are described. The results of analyses of He in H2 and of 3He in T2 are tabulated to illustrate the versatility of the device, and method analyses were also made of H2 in Ar, CO in Ar, and CO2 in Ne. (U.S.)
