Muons produced by high-energy cosmic photinos

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (USSR). Inst. Yadernykh Issledovanij

Description

Muon generation in photino-nucleon (γ-tildeN) scattering is studied at high energy of the photinos E>or approx.104 GeV. Nuons are generated due to production and subsequent decay of the charmed hadrons. As a quark subprocess, the reactions γ-tilde+g→c(c-bar)+c≅(c-tilde) are studied, where g is a gluon, c is a charmed quark, and c-tilde is a scalar charmed quark. Muons are generated by photinos less effectively than by neutrinos. On the other hand, the γN cross section at superhigh energy is two orders higher than the νN cross section. This is a certain signature of the photino produced by the source in complex observation by means of EAS setups and deep underwater detectors: intensive EAS flux at small flux of the underground high-energy muons
