Status of some hemopoietic organs in rats at total and subtotal irradiation and at autotransplantation of bone marrow

  • 1. Tsentral'nyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Rentgeno-Radiologicheskij Inst., Leningrad (USSR)

Description

Hemopoiesis in rats has been studied after their X irradiation at the absolutely lethal dose (800-820 R) totally (1-st gr.) with shin shielding (2-nd gr.) and with autotransplantation of bone marrow from uninjured fragment of the hemopoietic tissue (3-rd gr.). It is shown that animal survival gas been the highest in gr. 3 (62%), in gr. 2 reaching 32% (by 30 days), in the 1-st gr. all animals have died by 12 days. Quantitative indices of peripheral blood, bone marrow and spleen as well as morphological changes in hemopoietic organs testify to the fact that the hemopoiesis reduction occurs faster and of full value in gr. 3, rather slowly in gr. 2, in gr. 1 the reduction processes are slown down
