Description
Vanadium pentoxide, Mr=181.88, orthorhombic, Pmmn, a=11.512 (3), b=3.564 (1), c=4.368 (1) A, V=179.2 (1) A3, Z=2, Dx=3.37 Mg m-3, λ(Mo Kα)=0.71069 A, μ=4.94 mm-1, F(000)=172, T=292 K, R=0.020, wR=0.027 for 334 unique reflections collected up to θ=360 and 24 variable parameters. V2O5, a layered structure, built up from VO5 square pyramids sharing edges and corners, with V2O5 sheets held together via weak vanadium-oxygen interaction, V-O=2.791 (3) A. The structural investigation is confirmed and made more precise, showing a slight difference in the description of VO5 polyhedra (square pyramid instead of trigonal bi-pyramid). (orig.)
