Problems with the γ-ray spectrum in the Fleischmann et al. experiments

Description
The results of recent work claiming to have observed cold fusion are disputed by the authors on the basis of three quantitative factors. The claim that neutron capture by hydrogen nuclei was observed for the 2.22MeV γ-ray line is refuted because the linewidth is too small, a a clearly defined Compton edge at 1.99MeV should be observed but is not mentioned and lastly the neutron production rate is a factor of fifty too large. The features claimed as cold-fusion are postulated by the authors to be related to instrumental effects. (UK)
