Deoxidation of iron-nickel-chromium alloys with manganese
- 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Vechernij Metallurgicheksij Inst., Moscow (Russian Federation)
Description
The reducing capacity of manganese in Fe-Ni-Cr alloys is investigated. It is shown that the alloys with a high Ni content are deoxidised with manganese more efficiently. In the oxygen manganese concentration curve the minimum is observed within the range of Mn content of 1.2-1.6%. The position of the minimum shifts to the side of lower manganese concentration with an increase of nickel content. Thermodynamic calculation of oxygen solubility in Fe-Ni-Cr alloys is performed. The experiments are carried out using alloys Fe-10%Ni-20%Cr and Fe-40%Ni-15%Cr
