Description
The Primary Side Water Chemistry Guidelines are categorized in Control and Diagnostic Parameters. The target of the Control Parameters is to control the radiation build-up and the corrosion performance. Alkalizing additive, the level of dissolved oxygen in operation, the concentration of anions and hydrogen concentration are considered as Control Parameters. The Diagnostic Parameters complement the overall picture of the controlled water chemistry. The role of Hydrogen in the Primary System is to control the radiolysis water decomposition by the action of different types of radiation, and maintaining a reducing environment. In the absence of this control parameter, high concentrations of oxidizers species such as oxygen and hydrogen peroxide can be produce. Therefore, the radiation build-up and the corrosion in the system cannot to be controlled affecting materials and increasing radiation fields. There are a few information available about radiolysis decomposition in water, and also, few information in experimental reactors which can determine the minimum Hydrogen concentrations that is necessary to suppress radiolysis in water. Hence, it is necessary to performed different studies for estimating of the hydrogen concentration that is required in the Primary System. Then, the dynamics of the system values must to be checked and adjusted taking into account the operational experience. The Hydrogen Management in the Primary System depends on the main and auxiliary systems design. Consequently, the hydrogen dosage system depends on the type reactor, for instants: boiling water reactor (BWR), Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) and Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR). In particular, CAREM25 is not be addressed as any of these types reactors and is requires to be analyzed as a particular case in hydrogen dosage effects. Therefore, in this paper is shown the different alternatives of control and maintenance of the hydrogen concentration in the Primary Water System and the solution adopted for CAREM25 Project. Abstract (Spanish)
