Facility for measurement of gamma spectra accompanying a sup(242m)Am spontaneous fissile isomer in 241Am interaction with thermal neutrons

Description

A facility for investigating cascade γ-transitions in production of the sup(242m)Am spontaneously fissile isomer in thermal neutron capture by 241Am nuclei has been developed. The schematic diagram and the aeneral view of the facility with two versions of fragment detector array are presented. The narrow beam of thermal neutrons is very well collimated. The facility incorporates a multi-counter system for detecting delayed fission fragments, a scintillation γ-spectrometer, and a program-controlled measuring-detecting system. To obtain a maximum measurement accuracy, the facility parameters and measurement conditions are optimized
