New features in the local spiral structure
Description
Groups (or complexes) of star formation regions, concentrations of H I regions, supernova remnants, and x- and ν-ray sources located in the local spiral arm are treated as constituents of more intricate complexes of interrelated objects: interarm superassociations. These complexes differ in their position relative to the structural features of the local arm, in their structure and composition, and in the direction along which star formation is propagated through them. New transverse offshoots are outlined, forming interarm links along l = 120--3000
