Investigation of subsolidus phase equilibria in the Y2O3-Ta2O5 system
Description
The subsolidus phase equilibria in the system Y2O3-Ta2O5 are studied by X-ray phase, luminescence and microstructure methods with samples containing invariably 2 mol% Eu2O3 of Y2O3 and synthesized by sedimentation of hydroxides from sulfate solutions and calcined at 1250 and 1410 deg C. Homogeneity regions for the phases in the system are found, the process scheme for yttrium tantalate formation is given, great potentialities are substantiated of the use of luminescence as a method of physico-chemical investigation of phase state in systems involving rare-earth oxides
