Technological state and prospects of development of fast analog-to-digital converters

Description

The review is presented of fast-response analog-to-digital converters (ADC) which conditionally imply the ADC capable of running at conversion frequencies ranging from 1 to 2 MHz at the bit number >=8, and to 100 MHz at the bit number >=4. It is shown that close-to-the ultimate parameters of module ADC employing integrated circuits (IC) of medium-scale integration may be obtained in serial-to-parallel converters and make up 8 bitsx20 MHz. Parameters and operation in the digital selection-and-storage mode are considered for superlarge IC of parallel ADC which are most promising fast-response conver-- ters of a new generation. Considered are also the principles of constructing serial-to-parallel ADC with digital correction based on the superlarge IC
