Fractional spin in the gauged O(3) σ model

Description
The soliton sector of the O(3) nonlinear σ model coupled to an Abelian gauge field with a topological mass is quantized semiclassically. We evaluate the spin of the soliton with unit topological charge and find that it is θ/2π, independent of the topological mass parameter to all orders. Gauging the σ model thus does not affect the fractional spin of the soliton
