Description

The conversion of liquid waste arising in the course of spent fuel reprocessing and their conditioning for final disposal have reached an advanced development status. Pilot plant operation has successfully demonstrated the safe handling and suitability of such waste products for final disposal in deep underground repositories. Models are available for predicting the rather unlikely but nevertheless not excludable radionuclide transport between an underground repository and the biosphere via a specified water path.
