Derivation of the density distribution in a prolate galaxy from the rotation curve

Description
It is shown that the rotation curve of a galaxy with a prolate potential of Staeckel form can be used to derive both the potential and the density distribution, for each assumed value of the central axis ratio of the surfaces of constant density. As an example, a set of prolate models with simple rotation curves is considered. (author)
